Hi all,
I have always had cats but wanted a dog as well, so I bought a 10th week old beautiful male havanese puppy from a great breeder who raises his pups in his own home.
I named him Milo and he is so adorable
What I want to talk about is whether It's normal for a havanese of his age to be in a state of such frenzy that unless he's eating, getting a treat, (he has learned "sit" and is a real smarty-pants), or sleeping he's totally crazed. He acts like he wants to be pet but before I can touch him he has done some crazy wiggly moves in all different directions. Sometimes if I hold him next to my heart and breath deeply he will calm down for 5 seconds, but then makes little snuffy noises and makes like Houdini with me as the underwater chest he is locked in. While this is often adorable and hilarious, I would like to be able to pet and cuddle with him sometimes, and also am concerned he will explode from excitement.
I have read a few books and never reinforce this behavior. I also try and give him a treat if he calmer down. This may not be helpful as he knows when I'm about to give the treat and gets insane again.
Thanks for any thoughts!
P.S. these typos are due to my mobile's auto-complete, not to a lack of brain cells.
