I have considered getting a seat like this for Milton. Right now when he rides, he has a doggie-seatbelt from Petco that hooks up to the regular seat belt and then to his harness, and he sits on some towels since he always drools a lot in the car, or throws up :( So I was wondering how easy these seats are in terms of cleaning? Is there a top cover that's machine washable or anything? We're still planning on slowly trying to get Milton more used to the car since the drool and puke are just because of anxiety - with just sitting there at first in a standing car, giving him treats, then slowly working to turning the car on, then short rides - but some necessary drives always come in and we've had to start all over a couple of times. So until he's comfortable, he will keep drooling or puking, poor baby, and the car seat would be a waste if it's not easy to clean. Anyone who has one want to describe the cleaning? Thanks :)

Oh, sorry, I now see that this thread has multiple pages and there is already a mention of the fact that the cover comes off easily :) Thank you for that info! Next time I will check the page count on the thread first before asking.

Thank you so much for posting this - Delilah has always been in her crate when we travel and we usually are going to my parents house which is 10 hours away. We now do it in 2 days as it was too hard on me and her doing it in 1. Anyway, I had been looking at car seats as she can only see the dash or she lays down and stares at me! (I have a brand that has air holes in the bottom and top so she could still see me if she was laying down. I had never purchased one as I wanted her to be able to lay down and couldn't find any that would do that. I was concerned about the air bag and most likely would put her in the back middle seat so she can still see me. That will be strange for both of us at first as even 5 hours is long and I talk to her a lot :poke: and stick my fingers in the holes for a kiss. (yes, I love my dog) This looks like a fantastic seat in construction and comfort and she could finally see where we are going. For those of you that now have it, do you have a dog that barks at other dogs? Mine hasn't in the car because she can't see them, but that was my last concern - having her in the back barking at other dogs, people whatever. What has been your experience.

Thanks again, I think we are going to just get one and see how it goes, we can always go back to the crate if she or I are unhappy, I can't wait to buy one!

Barbara - Let us know how Huggie likes it once you take him for a ride.... I bet he would STILL rather be held by you... Daisy and Beau took to their car seats pretty quickly. I couldn't hold BOTH of them, so they had to either be in a crate or had harnesses with leashes tied to the seat belt.... The car seat sure solved the problem for us. We tried several SMALL trips around town on errands before taking them on a 2 hour ride and never had any problems with car sickness. They get excited when they see their harnesses come out of the drawer because they know that means a ride in the car. And they start doing a "happy dance" when we ask them if they want to go for a ride!

They both start the ride sitting up and watching out the window. Daisy is the first to lie down. She sometimes puts her head out over the side and watches while lying down. Beau takes a bit longer to lie down - and he watches out a LOT longer before lying down and sleeping... They both are very aware of the car turning or slowing down and always pop their heads up to see if we've arrived somewhere. Funny to see them!!

For size purposes - Beau is 14.3 lbs and Daisy is just over 11 lbs and the seats work great for either of them. Also - we have a Toyota Prius and a GMC Denali (a type of Yukon) and the two car seats work in either one.....

What size seats are they? and did you get the deluxe or standard model? Thank you for the pictures and such beautiful models to show us the details. I had also asked about barking as Delilah is in a crate where she can only see the floor and maybe part of the dash if she stands up. Due to her still barking at other dogs, was wondering if she will start barking in the car as she will see outside. Anyway, I'm more interested in the size and model as Amazon has them on sale. Anyone who purchased one can feel free to answer!
    Thanks, Kara and Delilah

Thanks Sally, Delilah is about 9lbs at her heaviest and is about 12" from neck to tail with another 7 1/2" of head! Her girth is about 13-14", I was looking at the extra large if it will fit in my car :twitch: I do appreciate your reply though. Everyone seemed to have the same one and I can't find any in Vancouver, so I'll have to order over the internet. I did read seperate reviews on different sites about it and most people wished they got a bigger size, that's why I'm looking at the X-large instead of the large.

I hope you are enjoying yours - do you have it in the front or back?

    Thanks again,
    Kara

I got the deluxe/jumbo size that holds up to 30 lbs. in hopes it would be big enough for them to ride together in it. It's in my back seat. I've been holding Eli in the front when Bruce is driving, but I know he wouldn't be safe if we were in an accident that way so I called the company and ordered an extra tether to attach a second harness to. I'm going to try them together tomorrow for about a 90-min. ride and see how it works out. Huggie likes to lie down and sprawl out so he might not like having Eli with him. We'll see..... I know Eli will love it since he likes to be as close to Huggie as possible. Neither of mine have ever barked in the car.

Eli is Delilah's size and Huggie is 12.6 lbs.

Kara I have two in the backseat because of airbags in the front seat.

Thanks you guys, I was hoping that she would be high enough and back far enough from the airbag that I could put her in the front, but was very unsure of doing that. I was hoping it might hit the frame instead. It might be more difficult on the long drive to not have her beside me in the front. I might get the large, I'm going to measure the car tomorrow and see if the x-large would fit. I haven't been able to find anything close to it in Vancouver, so I will be ordering it from Amazon before the sale is over!

    Thanks for your input,
    Kara

Hi everyone, went for a ride in our new Solvit booster seat, he kind of whined the whole time. Where is the best place to place the booster seat. Front, back, center of the back seat? I have no idea if i can disengage the airbag in the front if he is in the front. I would like him in the front, but if its best for him in the back I will keep it there. Also i can't seem to stop it from sliding. I guess i have to do something with the seat belt. Thanks.

I have them in the back seat with a cloth under the seat. Yes the safety belts have to be attached to the seat to keep it in place.

Ha ha yes I have the seat belt attached, but its loose,, I can't seem to make it so there is no play. I only have the shoulder belts not just the lap belt. Guess I will keep him in back.

I bought one in preparation for my puppy pick-up this weekend. I got the jumbo because I prefer the seat sitting on the car's backseat, rather than dangling from the headrest. The puppy has been for car rides, but in a crate with his litter mates. Do you think he'll be okay in the tagalong for a 4 hour car ride? It will be his first time wearing a harness. My 10-year-old daughter will be beside him in the backseat, and she can pet him and talk to him if he is awake.

My two Havs ride nicely together. Eli keeps looking out the window while Huggie mostly naps. Pics are from our trip to Cambria last weekend. It was a four to 4 1/2 hour ride each way and they were fine. They are in the back seat and this rests on the car seat. Your puppy will be fine and probably go to sleep. This is the deluxe jumbo size that holds up to 30 pounds. The same seat you have?

You'll probably want to stop at a rest stop to let him potty and I would put a pee pad in there as a precaution since he's just a puppy.

Yes, that is the carseat I bought. I know he doesn't need the jumbo seat, but I didn't care for the ones that dangle from the headrest.

The puppy is litter box trained -- I saw him potty in the litter box a couple times when we went to visit the breeder 2 weeks ago. The breeder suggested putting a litter box on the floor in front of the backseat, and if the puppy wakes up, stop and put him in the litter box.

Your guys look so cute in their car seat!
