I need cordless because I have to do the clipping outside. I see from the new PetEdge catalogue that Wahl has some new ones. Just wondering if anyone knows if they're any better than the old Deluxe pro series for 49.99. Or any other recommendations for a cordless that doesn't cost a fortune. Also preferably not too heavy. Thanks.

I wish I could help but I prefer corded clippers. I have a Wahl mini-arco that is rechargeable. I use in on my Chinese Crested but I don't think it would have enough oomph to get through a Havanese coat. I've used it with the cord and without but I find that it has less power when I use it without the cord. I use an outlet on the back of the garage when I shave her down and a little table on the lawn. It nice not to have to clean up the mess..I just let the hair go back to nature.

Do you have any outlets you can use outside? Maybe hubby could wire up one for you?

Over the years I've gone through almost every clipper made. The cordless that's worth every penny you pay for it in my experience is the Wahl Arco. Here's a link to it. http://www.petedge.c...r-Kit/44357.uts There's so little vibration, they run forever on a charge, they don't heat up, but years ago when I was helping a poodle handler get their dog ready for the ring, they warned me to wrap tape around the handle. I think they said it could split open if dropped but it's been so many years that I could be wrong. I've dropped mine way too many times and never had a problem, but I also followed their advice about the tape. I wrapped black electrical tape around it and it looks like it belongs there.

Thanks, I might give that a try. It would just be for between pro grooming touchups like foot pad and rear end trimming . I doubt I'd be so adventurous to do the whole body. And looks like PetEdge has the best price, too.

I'm sure it would be fine for that. I use my mini-arco for foot pad trimming on my havs. I use a larger Andis clipper for full haircuts.

Jan, I just got back from the groomers with Riley. They actually use that clipper you recommended and when I asked said it would work well for what I need. They use others also...Laube's.

The Laube's are great clippers but they're not inexpensive, especially the cordless ones. If all you are going to do is foot pads etc. you don't really need a clippers just a trimmer. I've had good luck with both Andis and Wahl models.
