Yes,I knew you had not wrote the blog Janet. I understood that. I find it fascinating and that "make you happy" just stood out for me,that's why I asked. I over think things so thought I may be reading something too seriously or missing the intent.

All in all....it makes sense and helps to put a different perspective on things.

    Thanks for your input.

Thank you for posting this. It's very informative. Oddly enough, for someone who has had rescue or shelter dogs, and mutts, all her life, it turns out that that I did it right when buying a Havanese puppy! Wow, normally I'd be the name on the T-shirt...I did do months of research, and got breeder referrals from my local club via a suggestion from the HCA. I did email more than one breeder but I only talked on the phone to one and only visited one at home to meet some adult Havs. As it turns out, McKenna and Sedona's breeder was the perfect choice for us. I have two pups from her and if I were rich, and if I had a bigger house and yard, and probably a different husband, I'd have more than two! :D

Very interesting Janet. I too miraculously did everything right, alas I was still refused to be sold a puppy from a reutable breeder in our area. First, because I worked out of the home a whopping 3 days a week. And the 2nd time, even after i had a loved, house trained, happy hav, was because we had trained Jasper to use an inside potty. And she didn't want her dogs to that. Oh, well...I should have been smarter and found one of our amazing breeders back then... But I went straight into the arms of probably a puppy mill, cause they would sell me a hav.with many red flags. Oh well, I adore Jasper. And now6 years later neither boy would be caught dead using the inside potty.

One day, my next one, hopefully a little girl, red or brindle or black and white would be nice, but any pup would do, I will do everything right.I will commit to a breeder, I will wait, I will travel, I will let the breeder pick the best for me and my pack. And I will love Love LOVE puppy kisses.

I'm just starting the process so this post is really timely. I don't think I screwed up too badly with the breeders I contacted (whew!). :D

Late to the party, Carolyn; thanks for giving me a link to this forum, where I joined yesterday (I think; I lose track of time; maybe it was the day before!).

I thought that first post in the thread was great. After I read it, I went back and found the series of emails I'd exchanged with the the two allied breeders, who, in consultation with me (and each other, I believe), ended up placing Camellika with me. She was 3.5 years old at the time (16 August, 2010 - one day before this community wws formed!)

You and I have known each other from other places, probably for about 10 years or more - I'm so glad to find you again, Carolyn! I'm very much hoping that when the time is right, you end up with exactly the Havanese who suits you!

And frankly, I think you have a really good idea of what you're doing, so will likely end up with very much what suits you and your husband. So I'll be watching for your further news!
