I think this one antler must just have had a weak spot------ :brick: especially since it happened so quickly!
I think we just have to be careful all the time. I know for one I will never leave them alone with a chew.
They have treat balls, kongs and other toys---- they haven't been destroyed YET!
He is strong and loves this treat game! I never thought he could pick it up and shake the treats out!

I bought 2 antlers for my girls and they aren't interested in them. Every once in awhile, Jammies will gnaw on one for a couple of minutes, but they are still intact.

I bought one for Maggie from the hav-to-hav-It shop. She wasn't interested in it so we gave it to my brother's border collies. The BCs enjoyed it for quite awhile and it did not break apart. They've also been known to find their own antlers in the woods (much bigger and not nearly so pretty or white :D).

Great topic! We have been wondering about Antlers, since we gave up on Bully Sticks for Whitey. He absolutely LOVED them, but he went through them sooooo qucikly, it was getting expensive..lol. Sounds like maybe we can give Antlers a try - and thanks to you all, we will know what to look for!
    Thanks!

With your experience Sally this past weekend at a show I asked one of the vendors and he said “Deer antlers will break and splinter, especially older dear antlers but I only sell Elk and they will not splinter.” I bought my girls 2. So far they are enjoying them for an hour or so at a time.

Thanks so much Sandi!!! I'm not sure if I will ever get them another one but if I do I'll make sure they are elk!
I gave them a bone the other day and they loved it!
