I noticed that a number of guests view community Index. Is that the member list?

I'm pleading total ignorance here as I have no idea what 'community index' is! I just looked around and can't spot what you're referring to, Poornima. I'm such a noob...... !

Marj, if you scroll all the way down to the home page, there is the list of members and guests logged in. Next to it is an active item "See Full List". When clicked on it, you can see the log of activity for each member and guest. I have always found it interesting that we have so many guests logged in, more than members, and so I was checking what topics they were generally interested in. Well, almost all of them were in "Viewing Community Index". It is a non-active item in the list, unlike the posted threads. I don't know what it it is and would like to know why so many guests are interested in it. I saw a couple of guests looking up profiles of members, and all those threads are active too.

I was originally thinking maybe members are looking on their smart phones and just aren't logged in. I do this quite often and then will respond to a thread when I am at home and on a computer.

I don't understand this, but if the members are looking on their smart phones, shouldn't it still show the items they are viewing, even as guests? Why does it show "Viewing Community Index"? Ugh! I sure have a bee in my bonnet now.

I see what you mean Poornima. I too think it's a little creepy that guests are spending so much time looking at profiles. Shouldn't you at least have to be logged in to do that? I would think one of the moderators should be able to shed some light on that.

Community index is the index page of our community... In other words the front page of the site.

Rita, the only knowledge one gains by looking at member profiles when not logged in is their post count and a few other forum statistics. Birthdays too, if it's something you chose to publicize. Emails are only seen by other logged in members and even then only after you have decided to allow other members to see it.

I realized this when I saw that I was one of those viewing the 'community index'! lol I had a couple of windows open so it had to be one of those. Thanks, Carolina. Poornima, great observation and great questions!
