hii i am getting a black and white havanese her name is laci and i will have her by the end of the month she is so cute (pic attached) does anyone have any advice.

i have seen her but my grandmother who also has a havanese picked her out and got her in florida but i can't wait to see her in person!!

Hi everyone my puppy laci just got all her shots and is on her way home from Florida . I will get to see her on Fridayy , I'm so exited and can't wait I need last minute tips on what i can do. I have a coat for her cause she is used to florida weather. I have pee pads stuffed soft squeaky toys. I have raw hide chews. And she is coming home with her toy/pillow that she loves and sleeps with every night. Soon she will be here and I will have very very busy days but for now what can I do so I don't go crazy waiting for her the next two days

How exciting! Best advice I can think of is don't let her have too much freedom in the house at first. Keep her in an x pen or enclosed area and take her out frequently to potty. Once you see a pattern, you can trust her out of her area for short periods. House training builds on sucesses not oopses. There are lots of good tips and hints in the puppy section of the forum. Have fun and we need lots of pictures!

Maggie, congratulations on getting your new Hav puppy! It's very exciting, and also can be tiring the first few weeks. Read up on the threads we have here on crate training, tips and sleeping arrangements. Basic rule of thumb is, that the less space the pup has to roam in, the easier it will be to train. If you can't watch Laci like a hawk, then she needs to be crated or in a pen of some sort.
As to raw hide chews, please check out the Diet section and the Chews and Treats subsection. For now, she is still too young to tear a rawhide chew apart, but they can actually be quite dangerous once she gets her adult teeth in so do be careful with those. I do recommend them for the first few months, with supervision.
