Then, last spring I did a 5k walk that was attended by the cutest 1 yr old puppy that I'd ever seen. He was a Shih Tzu/Poodle cross and that started my puppy hunger. Started working on my husband, who was not immediately onboard with the idea! Can you imagine? Anyway, Miss Tess (a shih tzu/poodle cross, heavy on the poodle) fell into our laps in May when her owner needed to rehome her. She was just 12 wks old and is a real firecracker. We were, once again, into doggy parenthood and it felt good!
Tess was not that happy by herself. I am an RN and only work per diem at a hospital right up the street, so my schedule is generally one or two days a week of work. We really felt that she would do better if she had a playmate while we were gone and the Havanese kept coming up. I was hearing about them from everywhere and the more I researched, the more this breed sounded perfect for us. We welcomed Baxter when he was 12 weeks old and he came right after we lost my sister to lung disease (he arrived during her Celebration of Life) and was a welcome diversion. What a doll!! So, now I'm all about puppies. I eat, drink and sleep puppies! I'm in love! We attended the Havanese playdate in Rhode Island last weekend and it was really fun to get together with others who share that passion. Can't wait for the opportunity to do it again!
It's nice to "meet" you all!!
